A couple of months ago I shared this video about the toxic impact leather industry has on both environment and people. In that article I mentioned buying shoes at local vintage stores, and I wanted to take a minute to share one of my all-time favorite Portland spots, Half Pint. They have a pretty vast array of vintage leather goods - Men, women, and children's shoes, super cute backpacks, belts, wallets, and lots of other treasure. I have been harassing them pretty steadily for the past two years, and snatching up any pair of shoes that come in and actually fit me. Earlier this year they moved to the super lovely Mississippi Avenue, and got a snazzy new space that I love dropping by and visiting. Heather, who manages the shop most days is usually stationed behind the register busily polishing shoes. She knows me well enough at this point to keep an eye out for my favorite styles. Plus, she has been kind enough to loan out shoes for my last couple of lookbook shoots, and they really couldn't compliment my clothes any better. I love pairing up my ultra girly lace skirts with a good pair of low boots. It makes the look less overtly sweet, and they'll give a good kick to most any other outfit I put together. You should definitely check them out if you are in the Portland area, or if you want to see what they have online, check them out here. Unless you wear size 10, and have a penchant for low profile boots in which case pretend you never read this.
