Art Share: Marble formed into clothing

by Anna Marie Cooper May 15, 2014

I spend a lot of time skulking around various art blogs, and decided it might be fun to start sharing what I find. These stone garments by Alasdair Thomson will trick your eye at least for second. He was so perfectly able to capture the drapes and folds of a garment at rest that it takes moment to realize they are carved out of marble. His ability to translate the softness of fabric into a material like marble is impressive. These are from his latest works, but there are a lot more to check out (including marble shoes!) on his website here. It's definitely worth a gander.

Amazing, right? They really take the latest trends in marble patterned clothes to an entirely new level. Next time sewing seems tough; keep this guy in mind.
